I was a child who always wanted
a father who was big and strong.
Now that I've grown I need a dad
who can admit when he is wrong.
When I was young I wanted more
than you sometimes had to give.
I know now that you provided
much more than we needed to live.
As I got older I learned to
think differently than a child.
I realize what I complained
about was often simply quite mild.
Now I've reached this point in life
I'm grateful for what you did and do.
If I had a choice to pick my Dad.
He would still be a lot like you.
